Transportation Demand Management (TDM) is the use of strategies, marketing, outreach, and policies to reduce travel demand, specifically that of single-occupancy vehicles.  TDM is intended to encourage use of existing transportation infrastructure more efficiently through carpooling or vanpooling, taking transit, telecommuting, walking, or bicycling.

The Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro MPO works collaboratively with the Capital Area MPO (CAMPO), the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), Central Pines Regional Council (CPRC), and other organizations to support TDM programs in the Triangle region, including the Triangle Transportation Choices program.
