The Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC MPO) Public Involvement Policy guides efforts to proactively involve the public to plan a multimodal transportation system that meets the region’s economic, sustainability, and equity goals.

The Public Involvement Policy guides the MPO’s public involvement efforts by identifying:

  • Guidelines for determining the level of public involvement needed for various planning activities
  • Minimum and advanced notification guidelines for various planning activities
  • The length of public input periods
  • Communication and engagement methods that the MPO can use to solicit feedback during all stages of the plan, program, and project development
  • How the MPO will respond to public comments
